WORKSHOPS
Looking for great training?
I provide highly engaging and interactive half-day, full-day, and multi-day virtual and face-to-face workshops for teachers, teacher assistants, coaches, and administrators. Prices are dependent on the length of the session(s) and the number of participants.
Don't see what you were looking for? Just contact me, and we'll work together to develop something tailored to meet your specific needs.
Worthwhile Math Apps for Young Children
Screens are here to stay- whether it’s in the physical classroom or within a virtual learning environment! Therefore, it’s important to carefully select and appropriately use high quality websites and apps that truly help young children learn and grow. Join me as we discuss important characteristics of high quality virtual experiences for PreK-2 grade children, explore various math related websites and apps using this criteria, hear recommendations from other participants, and leave with strategies for using them with your students and families.
Hosting a Virtual Math Night
An Evening of Investigation! Learn how to plan, organize, and implement a successful VIRTUAL Family Math Night. During this session, we’ll explore various activities and tasks that lend themselves to an engaging virtual experience for our young learners and discuss organization and management strategies for holding such an event in an online setting. Walk away with specific ideas to use for your own classroom, grade level, and school.
High Quality Virtual Math Experiences for Pre-K - 2
Join me for a collaborative think session! We have been propelled into new territory and we are all trying to figure out how to make the best of our current situation. Together, we’ll revisit what we know about how young children learn mathematics and explore strategies for creating high quality virtual math experiences that reflect this knowledge. Come ready to share strategies that have worked for you and those that you are thinking about trying. Leave with new ideas to try and colleagues to lean on as we continue moving forward.
A Deep Dive Into Number Sense
Together, we will unpack your learning standards related to number sense and dig into rich mathematical tasks and activities to teach these objectives. Be prepared to leave with concrete strategies for using different learning structures (e.g., circle time/morning meeting, whole group, centers, stations, small groups) to help your children develop a strong sense of number.
This is one of the most requested workshops I provide!
Subi-What?
Do your students still count each and every object when solving join and separating problem types? It's because they don't have any other strategies to use! This workshop provides you concrete activities and tasks for helping children quickly identify a small set of objects, count on, identify one more/less, and learn the different combinations of numbers through the use of perceptual and conceptual subitizing! You will leave with strategies and ideas that are aligned to your state standards.
How Do I Fit It All In?
One key to a successful mathematics program is the organization and management of the math instructional time. Suggestions for structuring, organizing, and managing those precious daily minutes for math instruction will be provided. Participants are invited to share and discuss their own tips and management strategies with the other participants so that you leave with ideas that will work in your situation.
This is one of the most requested workshops I provide!
Getting the Facts About Fluency
Looking for concrete research-based strategies for building basic fact fluency that are developmentally appropriate for our youngest students? Come ready to discuss the steps for building fact fluency and leave with exciting and meaningful tasks and activities to use with your K-2 students.
Get Them Talking!
Number Talks are a powerful way to help children make sense of the mathematics they are learning. Together, we'll identify important elements of number talks, how to establish procedures and routines, and strategies for facilitating student learning. Videos and role-play will help you leave ready to begin implementing- or refining- number talks in your PreK - 2nd grade classroom!
Pattern Blocks, Attribute Blocks & Tangrams-
Oh, My!
Ever wonder what the difference is between these similar materials? Need more ways to use them with your PK-2 students? Together, we will explore these three manipulatives, try out various tasks and activities using these materials, and leave with strategies and ideas on using these materials to support your children’s understanding of Geometry and Algebra state standards.
Ten Frames- The Way to Fame!
Always wanted to use ten frames but haven’t? Looking for new ideas? Learn why ten frames are such powerful tool for young learners and explore how to use five frames and ten frames to help students understand and master beginning number concepts and beginning place value.
To Pin- Or NOT To Pin?
Are you looking for mathematically rich tasks that are accessible to the wide range of learners you have in your classroom? Join me to learn about the characteristics of rich tasks and explore examples that are accessible, extendable and encourage children to make decisions, hypothesize, and share their thinking.
MATH WORKSHOPS
These are examples of my most requested math workshop topics specifically designed for Pre-K - 2.
We can mix and match topics depending on your needs, the grade level(s) of focus, the time you have available, and the number of participants.
If you are looking for a topic that is not listed, please ask! I'm happy to tailor something to meet your needs.

BEYOND MATHEMATICS
This is just the tip of the iceberg! We can also work together to design something just for you.
Your Daily Schedule
There are only but so many minutes in a school day, so how can you make the most of time that you have? During this session, we’ll talk about what the research identifies as important things to consider when developing a schedule for Pre-K - 2nd grade children, determine aspects of the schedule that you do and do not have control over, and spend time exploring various full day schedules that could work in your own situation.
Classroom Centers
Classroom centers are the staple of an early grades classroom- so we want to make them as engaging, appropriate, and meaningful as possible. Together, we’ll revisit what classrooms centers are, the difference between centers and stations, and the power of using them with your students. Then, through the use of photos, videos, and our own experiences, we’ll ‘visit’ other classrooms for ideas and tips. Plan to be inspired, leaving with new ideas to use in your own classroom!
Student-Led Family Conferences
Including the child within a family conference allows everyone a wonderful way to celebrate successes and identify next steps for learning. During this session, we’ll dig into why and when you would want to include the children you teach during a family conference and how to prepare for and manage the actual conference experience. By the end of this session, you’ll have specific strategies and tools that you can incorporate back in your own setting.
Building with
Unit Blocks
It’s time to dust off those glorious wooden unit blocks and begin to uncover all that block building has to offer your students!  You will take part in hands-on activities using unit blocks to learn how to set up and facilitate block building experiences that promote problem-solving, discovery, exploratory learning, and capitalize on the STEAM concepts within!  Come ready to build and leave with concrete ideas to get you started back in your classroom.
This is one of my favorites!
